Problem Running on Toshiba Laptop

The problem only exists on my Toshiba Satellite A25 - S3072 (running
XP).

I'm using dBASE Plus Version 2.2 (build 1746) (which works fine on my
desk top computer).

On the laptop, when I open dBASE Plus, it displays the Navigator and
Command windows, then immediately (it doesn't get to the dQuery window)
a message box pops up titled "dBASE PLUS Internal Error". The message
is "dBASE Plus has encountered an internal or operating system error.
Do you want to save any unfinished work before exiting? Choose Yes to
continue working in dBASE PLUS; it is recommended that you exit
immediately after saving any unfinished work. Choose No to exit now."

If I choose No, everything closes. If I choose Yes, I get another
message box labeled Plus.exe with the message "Abnormal Program
Termination". When I click OK, everything closes.

This problem seems to occur about 90% of the times I try to run dBASE
Plus on this machine (which I need to do product demonstrations).

Since this problem only appears when starting dBASE Plus and not with
other software on this machine, I'm of the belief that the machine is
not the problem.

Any thought on this?

Bill,

Some ideas for you to try:

Be sure your anti-virus is up-to-date and do a full scan.
Be sure no other programs are running at the same time. (Even try turning
off your anti-virus).
Try removing and reinstalling dBASE.
Try updating the video driver for your laptop.
Try defragmenting your hard drive and scanning it.

I have no idea what could be causing this, but... Did you try to copy the
Plus.ini file from your desktop computer to your laptop? If it's a setting
problem, it should, theorically, fix it. Another way would be to uninstall
everything and reinstall it back from scratch, but I'm guessing you already
tried that.

Hope this helps.

Try deleting Plus.ini and re-start dBASE.
